Hot Tub Mineral Purifier Care Guide

Using minerals to care for your spa water is pretty new. It is our favorite tool for clear water without a lot of hassle.

Pros: Since a mineral cartridge takes care of every day sanitizing, you only need to treat your water once per week. By using less chemicals, the water is easier on your skin and hair.

Cons: The cartridge must be replaced every three months. We feel it is totally worth it though.

Maintenance Schedule

Start Up:

  • Chlorine: Establish a chlorine level of 3 - 5 ppm to initally sanitize the water.
  • Mineral: Install the mineral cartridge in your filter. We prefer the Nature 2 cartridge.
  • Stain & Scale Control: Treat with an initial dose to prevent scale buildup.
  • Test Water: Test pH, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness. Ignore any other tests available.
  • pH & Alkalinity: Decrease both with pH decreaser. Increase with separate pH and alkalinity increasers.
  • Calcium Hardness: Increase if needed. You can't decrease high calcium hardness.

After Each Use:

  • Shock: Add directly to the water with the jets on. Never use a spa with cloudy water. If cloudy, add chlorine.

Weekly:

  • Chlorine: A small dose of chlorine, one time per week, goes a long way to keeping your water clean and clear.
  • Stain & Scale Control: Add weekly to prevent scale buildup.
  • Surface Cleaner: Weekly or as needed to keep the water line clean.

Monthly:

  • Filter Cleaner: Clean your filter every month and it will last a long time.

Quarterly:

  • Drain and refill. Follow start up instructions.
