Hello! The first thing you need to do is get the free chlorine level in your pool up to its optimal 1.0 to 2.0 ppm level. You can do this by shocking your pool once every 24 hours until the proper free chlorine level is reached: Pool Shock. This will help eliminate the algae in your pool and kill off all the bacteria. You should use an algaecide after the chlorine levels are balanced: Algae Remover. As to the SeaKlear Phosphate Remover, it will become much more effective now that the chlorine levels have been boosted into proper range. Always follow the directions on the bottle, adding double doses is not recommended. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Still no chlorine reading

Whenever I wrote asking about no chlorine level in our pool because of algae and probably phosphates you said to do shock every 24 hours which we have been for four nights and still no reading.... That doesn't seem to work. We are waiting, probably today or tomorrow, our delivery from you of the phosphates remover and I asked for 19,000 gal. pool we probably should have used, whenever we tried Sea Klear a couple weeks ago, two 32 oz. instead of the one bottle only? You didn't answer that question..We have been dealing with this since the third week of May and trying everything anyone suggests. Hope your Sea Klear and using more for the pool size does work. Like I said the shock (2 bags) everynight isn't doing it AS YET, as far as getting any reading of chlorine at all. Will keep you posted if the subject gets resolved before Sept.

What kind of shock have you been using? Have you been using granular or tablet shock? Also, what kind of test strips have you been using? How old are they and where have they been stored? There could be a problem with your test strips. We would not recommend adding a double dose of the SeaKlear Phosphate Remover. We recommend always following the instructions on the bottle.

We use In the Swim chlorine sticks and In the Swim Super Shock (2 bags once a week, granular ) algaecide (every week ). Whenever this all started I used last year's test strips and this year I bought a new container and had tried them too even thought last year's date was still okay. I store them here in a cupboard in the house, they aren't too hot there. That amt. of remover wasn't too much / 1 bottle for 10,000 and we have 19,000, it started acting right away and we swept the pool after 24 hrs. to waste then cleaned the filter again just because...No algae on the walls this morning..We were told we wouldn't get a chlorine reading until we got rid of the phosphates and that was 100% correct..

Thought you would love to know that we used two bottles or 1/2 gal. of the phosphate remover this time instead of one bottle and today is the first day we have no phosphates showing in the water at all. Our pool sales here said use one but after reading your directions we should have used two in 19,000 gals. of pool water... Now we finally have a chlorine reading also....Thanks....

One Was Not Enough

I used the SeaKlear Phosphate Remover last summer and was told to use one 32 ounce bottle in my pool, which holds roughly 24K gals. My phosphate level was over 1200. It wound up taking a second bottle to get rid of the phosphates and had to vac several times to waste to get the heavy white cloud out off the bottom of the pool. Just running the pump and backflushing did very little. After all that, with normal cleaning and a couple of ounces of the remover each week, the levels have stayed down.
