Alkalinity in popup pool 12x30 deep

I have well water and just well water with no pool stuff in it my alkinity is 240 ppm. I used popup pool starter kit step #1 was sanination and alkalinity. To make a long story short I have used 16 oz of ph decreaser and my alkalinity is still over 200 ppm. I was told to try Proteam Metal magic what do you think?
