Before installation, ensure your pool is clean and chemically balanced.
- Clean debris and algae out of your pool and clean your filter.
- Test your water by using test strips or taking a water sample to your local pool professional. For maximum effectiveness, your pool water should match the following levels:
- pH between 7.2 to 7.8
- Total Hardness between 200 to 400 ppm
- Total Alkalinity between 80 to 150 ppm
- Install the Nature 2 Spring cartridge into your Nature 2 A Vessel. If using this cartridge mid-season, remove the existing cartridge, set it aside, and install the Spring cartridge.
- Clean your hands with soap and water.
- Activate the Spring cartridge by running your pool filtration system for 15 minutes to dissolve the active ingredients and disperse them into the pool water. The water will turn cloudy to milky white to indicate that the cartridge is removing phosphates. DO NOT ENTER THE POOL.
- Note the pressure at the pool filter.
- Remove the Spring cartridge, drain, and dispose of it in your household garbage.
- Install a new Nature 2 Mineral Sanitizer cartridge or, if using the Spring cartridge mid-season, re-install the existing cartridge. Be sure to:
- Super oxidize your pool with chlorine to activate the new cartridge, following the manufacturers guidelines. This step is not needed when re-installing a partially used Nature 2 cartridge mid-season.
- Run the filtration system continuously for 4 days. If re-activating a cartridge mid-season, run pump and filter system for 2 days.
- IMPORTANT: Monitor filtration system backpressure during cartridge activation. For cartridge or DE filters, if backpressure exceeds 20 psi, clean the filter and continue activation. For sand filters, backwash the filter if the pressure rises more than 5 to 10 psi and continue activation.
- If the pool is not noticeably clearer within 24 hours, backwash or clean the filter again.
- If necessary, occasionally brush the pool bottom to distribute settled material.
- Maintain at least a 1-2 ppm free chlorine residual throughout the activation process.
- When activation is complete, let the free chlorine level drop to 0.5 ppm by reducing the amount of chlorine you add. DO NOT ENTER THE POOL IF THE FREE CHLORINE LEVEL IS ABOVE 3 ppm or until the bottom of the pool is clearly visible.
1 cartridge will treat most pools in approximately 48 hours.
NOTE: Designed to work with Nature 2 A Vessels only.
Nature 2 Spring Phosphate Eliminator Cartridge is the easiest way to remove phosphates from your pool, which if left unchecked can result in uncontrollable algae growth. It is compatible with all filter and pool types.
