Product Reviews
Seriously, It really works

Depending on your stain this won't necessarily be the only step you'll need to take. Having said that, and having done a few no-drain acid washes, I can tell you that (somehow!) this product seems to elliminate the scrubbing step!! (That's going to sound crazy to some people who have had to acid wash before. Especially those of us with bad backs.) Seriously though: get your ph, chlorine and alkalinity (even if you have to aerate for weeks) way down first, then proceed with this amazing product and stains seem to just vanish. As I said, saving your from the back-breaking step of laborious scrubbing. Incidentally I am talking about non-vinyl surfaces - Can't speak for those. Strongly recommended otherwise.
It really works

This product is the only thing that works for removing the orangey-brown stains from the walls of my fiberglass pool (under the water line). I usually sprinkle it around the edges of the pool after the pump turns off for the day (the instructions say to leave the pump on, but I think it works better with it off!), then when I wake up the next morning, the stains are gone. There are two reasons I didn't give it 5 stars: 1) It is freaking expensive and you need half a bottle per 10,000 gallons per treatment, and 2) it really works best if you drop the chlorine to zero (which I refuse to do, because then it takes me a couple weeks to get my chlorine back up). So I just leave my chlorine at normal levels and use more of the product (which, of course, means MORE MONEY!).
Tech Specs
Chemical Type: Metal Control - Remover
Brand: Natural Chemistry Pool
Directions

1. Balance pool water. pH should be between 7.2-7.4. Alkalinity should be between 80-120. Hardness should be between 200-400.

2. Remove all chlorine from pool. Minimizes the risk of algae, by removing its primary food source (phosphates).

3. Add 1/2 bottle per 10,000 gallons around the perimeter of the pool with pump running. Brush pool thoroughly. After brushing, if stains are not completely removed add more Stain Free Extra Strength.

4. Add a pulp based filter aid to your cartridge or sand filter. If you have a DE filter make sure it is charged properly with DE.

5. Vacuum pool slowly and thoroughly.

6. After 24 hours clean out your filter. For a sand filter, backwash for at least 3 minutes and then rinse for 2 minutes. For a cartridge filter, clean the filter and filter tank thoroughly. For a DE filter, backwash and recharge with DE.

7. Test and rebalance. Do not shock the pool for 1 week.

8. Use Metal Free as a weekly maintenance product for a stain free pool.
