Product Information
BIOGUARD SMART STICKS ARE BEING DISCONTINUED BY THE MANUFACTURER. IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE SIZE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PLEASE LOOK AT BIOGUARD'S NEW SILK SMART STICKS. BioGuard Smart Sticks are a unique, chlorine based way to sanitize your pool. This product is unique because when the pump is turned off, the erosion rate also slows down. This makes the product last longer while continuously introducing chlorine into the water. It also has a built-in stabilizer, so the chlorine residual lasts longer. Smart Sticks work continuously to kill bacteria, and they simplify pool care with an easy skimmer application.

Product Use

This is step one in Bioguard 3 step program. When used with a pool shock and algaecide you are virtually guaranteed a clean and clear pool.

Directions

Initial Start-Up: Consult your BioGuard dealer for intial water balance and start-up procedures.  Ensure that pool equipment is operating properly. Backwash filter and use Bioguard Kleen-It as necessary.  Add stabilizer 100 to establish a minimum level of 30-40 ppm. Superchlorinate pool water with a shock product for vinyl-liner pools, to obtain a chlorine level of at least 1-3 ppm.  Add initial dosage of Back-Up algaecide.  When using other products as outlined in directions for this product, always follow directions on those products.  With the pump operating, add on Smart Stick to the pool skimmer basket for each 5,000 to 7,000 gallons of water or a portion therof.  Divide number of sticks evenly for pools with multiple skimmers.  Pool circulation must continue for a minimum of 10-12 hours to form the protective skin that reduces the erosion of the Smart Stick.

Routine Maintenance: Test pool water periodically. Maintain pH of 7.2-7.6 and chlorine level of 1.5-3.0 ppm.  At least twice a season, have your BioGuard dealer analyze for total water balance.

About once a week, with pump operating, add one Smart Stick to the pool skimmer basket for each 5,000 to 7,000 gallons of water.  Pool circulation must continue for a minimum of 10-12 hours to form the protective skin that reduces the erosion of the Smart Stick.  Shock pool with a shock product for vinyl-liner pools, per label directions and add maintenance dosage of BioGuard Back-Up algaecide per label directions.

Operate pool recirculation system a minimum of 10 hours per day.  Adjusting the hours of pool recirculation or the sticks added to the skimmer helps to regulate the sanitizer level.
