BioGuard Optimizer Plus

For initial application in pools sanitized with brominating or chlorinating products:

Backwash and clean filter. Balance you pool water and adjust pH between 7.2-7.6.  Add between 1.7-2.8 lbs. of Optimizer Plus per 1,000 gallons of pool water (this gives a 30-50 ppm residual) by broadcasting the product over the surface of the pool with the pump running.  BioGuard recommends for pools that have experienced previous problems or are currently experiencing problems with algae or cloudy water to treat at higher level of 2.8 lbs per 1,000 gallons.  This intial treatment should be added in three doses with one third of the required amount being added each application.  Brush any undissolved product from the bottom of the pool.  The pH of the pool water will rise as normal reaction to the introduction of Optimizer Plus.  One hour after each application, adjust the pH to 7.2-7.6 with BioGuard LoN Slo, according to label directions.  Allow at least 8 hours between the applications.  Do not add additional product until the pH is between 7.2-4.6 (Note: For every 2 lbs of Optimizer Plus, approximately 1 pound of Lo N Slo will be required for pH adjustment).  Within 10 days, take a water sample to your BoGuard dealer to test water balance and to determine if an adequate amount of this product has been added.

For Initial Application in Softswim and Other Biguanide Pools:

Add between 2.8-4.5 lbs. of Optimizer Plus per 1,000 gallons of pool water (this gives a 50-80 ppm residual) by broadcasting the product over the surface of the pool with the pump running. BioGuard recommends for pools that have had experienced previous problems or are currently experiencing problems with algae or cloudy water to treat at the higher level of 4.5 lbs per 1,000 gallons.  This intial treatment should be added in three doses with one third of the required amount being added each application.  Brush any undissolved product from the bottom of the pool.  The pH of the pool water will rise as normal reaction to the introduction of Optimizer Plus.  One hour after each application, adjust the pH to 7.2-7.6 with BioGuard Lo N Slo, according to label directions.  Allow at least 8 hours between the applications.  Do not add additional product until the pH is between 7.2-4.6 (Note: For every 2 lbs of Optimizer plus, approximately 1 pound of Lo N Slo will be required for pH adjustment).  Within 10 days, take a water sample to your BoGuard dealer to test water balance and to determine if an adequate amount of this product has been added.

For Maintenance Application:

This product is stable in pool water and not degraded by sunlight.  The primary loss of product is through splash-out, backwashing and dilution from heavy rains.  Therfore, once the initial application is made, minor or infrequent additions will be all that is required unless a substantial amount of water is drained from the pool.  Monthly testing by your BioGuard dealer is important to determine if your Optimizer Plus level is within the acceptable range.

Chlorine or Bromine Pools: 1.7-2.8 lbs. of Optimizer Plus per 1,000 gallons of water.

Softswim and other Biguanide Pools: 2.8-4.5 lbs. of Optimizer Plus per 1,000 gallons of water.
